The thinkable has happened!

Published by psynopsis under Techno News Edit This

The Cable operators have finally realized the internet is taking their money. Many of us use the internet to watch shows, we would otherwise have to pay cable companies to watch. You can find tons of Software and websites offering free episodes of any show you would like to see. I was waiting to see how long it would take the companies to realize this, and surprisingly it took longer than I thought.

The economy as well as the DTV transition, has already taken a toll on the Cable companies. They have lost thousands of subscribers, and now with TV freely available online, they are expecting thousands more. One plan is to allow only paying subscribers watch shows online. Another, plan is to get rid of shows online, this is their plan B they will consider ways to do this and still keep everyone’s business intact. This really upsets me, why do they have to mess with this, they should just accept the fact that they are no longer needed. There are still a lot of people who have no internet access, the cable companies can still benefit from that!

Want to find free wi-fi in your area?

Published by psynopsis under Tech support Edit This

Today, in this century the internet is part of our daily lives. We use it to do almost everything from sharing information to shopping. It’s available to use on everything from phones to iPods, we just have to have it available through the phone network or wi-fi. Wi-fi is internet transmitted through the air, it’s available almost in every McDonalds except we have to pay to use it.

A good thing is now many places have it available free, many of those places are fast food places, coffee shops and most ariports. Of course, to be able to use it free you have to come into the shop and buy at least one thing. You can also get free wi-fi on certain streets, usually those streets are very popular or use wi-fi for some reason. There are many sites that find free wi-fi for you, i have listed a few below. Remember, while some are shown free, if they are in a fast food place or shop you need to buy something.

I read an article on the web a few months ago, were a man used “free” wi-fi from a coffee shop from his car. The owner found out somehow, (the article did not state how) and called the police. They surprisingly fined him, he took it to court and he was still fined. So, i guess that the “free” wi-fi found in places like that are not always free. I may seem wacky but I guess it’s fair. The owner does pay for the wi-fi service. In my opinion the Government should have wi-fi available in every city. I looked for free wi-fi nearby and my city doesn’t have any!

Websites you can use to find free internet!

http://www.openwifispots.com/Default.aspx

This by far the best website to use. It focuses on hotels, malls, and libraries.
I found out the mall, nearby has free wi-fi, i could have been using the internet in there for years!

http://www.jiwire.com/

I also like this site, compares the same as the first. They have tools you can download to find wi-fi.

The Japanese hate the iPhone!

Japanese people surprisingly dislike the iPhone. It’s weird as the iPhone has taken the mobile world by storm, what school kid wouldn’t do for one of these devices?

Why do Japan’s citizens despise about the phone? Almost everything: the high monthly plans that go with it, its paucity of features, the low-quality camera, the unfashionable design and the fact that it’s not Japanese. I agree with 2 of those things, but unfashionable? Who do they think they are? Would they prefer that phone to be all flowery and pink? or with little anime pictures? Yes, we all know how well Japanese products work! (sarcasm)

Apparently, they posses high, complex standards when it comes to choosing a phone. My standards are these a phone must be shiny, new, and popular. I would do anything for the phone, although I have been wanting an iPod touch, I got over the phone craze already.

TV.com

Another one of those websites that makes you waste countless hours in front of a computer screen. It’s great! If you haven’t noticed many websites have started advertising on TV. I found out about TV.com through a commercial. Perhaps later on in the future the TV will somehow become part of the internet. So you could be watching Youtube videos while watching regular TV.

I may have lost Family Guy to the DTV switch, but I thankfully TV.com is there. As I had said in a previous post, why do we even bother paying for Cable or Satellite TV when we have all the shows we want available 24/7 online. It’s kind of idiotic to pay for something we can get for free. Public television is also available, I heard NBC is coming up with great shows!

Twittering Politics

Tuesday, if you live in America you probably had to see the press conference given by the President. I thought it was boring but i manage to pay attention to the last part. Anyway, one thing you may have noticed if you were watching closely was that almost everyone there was on their phone or on their computer. I wanted to know what they were all busy doing, later i found out they were twittering! If you don’t know what tweeter is, it’s basically a networking site, Almost similar to blogging except you write small sentences. The thing that most stood out of this, was that the senators and all those who attended, sounded like high school students when they commented on Tweeter. They were all like- oh my god i can’t believe this guy is here! or the guy seating next to me is a grouch! I have to agree, I was amazed Senator McCain Tweetered! In fact i didn’t know he or any Senator knew how to use the internet. The thing I disliked was that, the media tried to say they shouldn’t be able to use cell phones or be busy tweetering while the President was giving his speech. I know listening shows respect, but come on! As everyone knows speeches are boring and I think it’s better for the politics telling everyone on what they are thinking and letting them express what they want to say in common terms than having them use confusing words that at the end explain nothing! It’s the 21st century, soon the President is going to be accessible on Facebook or some other social site. So get used to it!

Swapaskill.com

Published by psynopsis under Websites Edit This

If you are looking for a new skill, or learn to do something, new try Swapaskill.com. You do favors for others if you already posses the skill they are trying to achieve. In my case i choose to learn Hacking skills, perhaps I’ll add more things I would like to learn later.

Hacking Skills was the only thing i thought of at the moment. I am offering computer skills, other than hacking of course. I am still going to add more things later as well. Swapaskill works like this- you offer skills and you ask for ones you don’t have. So if someone has hacking skills they would hopefully teach me things, and I in turn would teach them something they wanted to learn. They don’t necessarily have to be skills, it can be any type of advice, they range from cooking frozen food (apparently, some people need help doing this) to car repairs. I think this idea is great, you learn from others instead of trying to learn it by yourself. What do you think, is this a good idea? You can also search for others near you, so you can meet them in person as well. Just remember the safety guidelines when doing this.

It’s a secret!

Today I was searching through Today’s blogs and I found a newly created blog. dyingtotellyou.today.com is a blog for secrets. If you want to share something with the world but keep your name a secret that’s the place! The blog has just been created so don’t expect too many secrets yet! After, reading about that blog I decided to do some research on anonymity on the web and found a few web tools that help you stay out of spy range.

The first site I found was Bigstring.com, BigString allows a user to easily send, recall, erase, self-destruct (self-destruct!!) and modify an email after it has been sent. BigString users have unprecedented control over all of their email, whether they choose to send it through the BigString.com website or an email client such as Outlook. BigString gives you the advantages of private email and secure email. The thing that got me was the self-destruct feature which sounds totally cool! Once the messages self-destruct there will be no record of the message on the inbox or server. Works with IM as well. With great power comes great responsibility! remember that!

The second and most scary website is fakenamegenerator.com this site is awesome! Basically it gives a whole you different identity with street address, phone number and worst of all a SS number! Although scary extremely useful! if you want to use a fake identity for signing up on a website. You can choose the country you want to live in and your race. Here are some reasons why you would want to use this site.

Many websites, such message boards, are poorly designed, making it difficult for visitors from foreign countries to sign up for accounts. Using fake information, you can easily fill out the sign up forms and log in to the site.
Use fake information when filling out forms to avoid giving out personal information. (Great reason!, too bad Only American based websites do this, as I live in America so I have no use for this, or do I?)

Generate a false identity to use as your pseudonym on the internet. This allows you to keep your real life and your internet life separate.( sounds reasonable)

Get ideas for names to use for characters in a book or story. ( If I ever write a book i’ll use this website! sounds like a great idea!)

Generated credit cards can be used to test basic client-/server-side validation techniques without accidently processing a real card. (who has time for that? but still good reason)

Generated national identity numbers can be used to test basic client-/server-side validation techniques without risking disclosure of real information. (Passable) If you have questions visit the site’s FAQ’s!
Remember what I had said before! About the whole power thing, uh who cares?

I’ll try to find more anonymisity tools!

Found some really cool websites!

Published by psynopsis under Websites Edit This

I was searching the deep wide web and found some sites you can’t believe! Some are Useful, some are fun and some are plain awesome!

1. Speedtest.net- this website is great, as the name suggests it you test your speed, what speed? Your internet speed of course! It measures how fast your internet connection or ISP downloads and uploads stuff! I tried it and my Download speed was 740 kbps (kilo bytes per second) and upload was 131 kbps. A bit slow on the uploads but i can deal with it! Test to see how fast your’s is!

2.internetworldstats.com- Shows internet usage statistics world wide!

3.Bugmenot.com-It provides passwords for websites you need to login, the passwords are submitted by anyone who visits the site, so some passwords and usernames do not work so you can’t use this site to hack.

4.Songza.com- A site dedicated to music, you can use it as a radio and music search engine. I really like this site it’s very useful if you need to find a song or something about it.

5.Faxzero.com- You can send a fax over the internet. I wish i had found this site earlier, i needed to send a fax but had no time to go to the shop. The design of it is very modern, sites like those really draw my interests. Did i mention you can send it for FREE!!

6.Box.net- Again this site is very modern and like faxzero, extremely useful! you can store files and use tools to organize them. Basically it’s like a storage place for files, another thing about this site besides the looks, it’s free well some of it! Many business use box.net, if you need a place to upload your files here’s place!

And lastly number

7.cl1p.net- Difficult to spell but after it’s saved into your browser, it will automatically come up. I like this site as it allows you to copy and paste between computers by a using a URL. So, if you want to open the same information (examples: files, pictures, messages…) you place what you want in the “folder” then you visit the URL they give you, and you can retrieve what you saved in the “folder”. You can use this if you run out of memory on your computer or if you need to give the info to someone far away. This is better than using emails specially for photos, which take forever to upload and plus you don’t have to share your email with anyone. More instructions are provided on the site.

I found a way to track your PC if stolen!

Published by psynopsis under Websites Edit This

I found FREE software that helps locate your PC if it ever gets stolen it can be found on iconico.com. There are a few software programs that help you keep track of your PC. They come in useful, if your laptop or any computer is stolen. The other software, however, is not cheap. I was surprised to see that they actually had it for free, if you want to use it got to the link below and it should let you download it. The good thing about this program is that it runs in the background and you won’t even know it’s running. This is good, as you don’t want a big logo warning anyone that stole it, that it has a tracking software. It works with Vista and older versions of windows. I am not sure if it will work for macs, but i would give it a try anyway just in case it does work. You can also use email protector to stop spam from reaching your inbox go to I am currently using this tool and i have gotten less spam emails, spam is slowly reduced until hopefully it will all go away! Click on the picture below.

Ether.com

Published by psynopsis under Websites Edit This

This is a website for those who have skills. Whether you’re a teacher, tech specialist, professional blogger, psychologist you name it. You should try ether, this site allows you to make money by getting calls from those of us who are clueless at something. For example, if you’re a psychologist and you want more clients or more income, sign up on ether and you get calls from people seeking your help. It promotes more customers and it’s over the phone! You don’t have to be a professional but you do have to know your skill. Can’t give bad advice or help you know! You have total control on what time and days you want to receive calls. I haven’t signed up because i have no skills at anything, except maybe blogging, but even that’s hard for me! you can also decide to be contacted by email and did i mention you get to name your price? You don’t have a limit, of course it would be better for business if the prices were reasonable! Anyway, if you decide to try it got to ether.com and perhaps it’ll become your business. I have to warn you though, this will require people skills as you will be speaking with the person directly by phone and you will need a lot of free time to do this.
