Who uses them anymore?
Today, i was doing some research and i found some information on the history of pencils. It seems dull but have you ever wondered where they came from? Anyway, i won’t bore you with this, i wanted to tell you about an idea i got after reading this. In school not many students have regular wood pencils anymore, they all go for the mechanical type. The ones you can refill with graphite and never need to be sharpen. I like those they are the only ones i use, they feel cleaner and don’t make a mess and usually their eraser is way better than the wood type. Now, what if they made a super mechanical pencil? Let’s say we keep the refilling gig, but why not install a computer chip in it to “remember” what it writes and be able to download it in your PC. It’s not like the tech is not already available, they already have those in the market but you have to buy a special paper or pad and other junk. Some of the things you could do with this pencil would allow you to not only have everything stored and be able to download it, but also have other features like tell time, be able to download a dictionary in to it so whenever a spelling mistake is done it would flash a red light or some other kind of alert, perhaps even a grammar check. The last thing i would like it added would be, connecting it to a mobile phone, even though i don’t use this device a lot (scared of brain cancer, mainly and no friends
) it could tell you when you receive a text message and maybe even show the message on a small screen, a good way to get texts while in school! Anyway, this is all just one of my wacky ideas!
Here is the website i promised yesterday! it’s Rememberthemilk.com
all one word, this site is extremely useful for those of us who usually need reminders for everything or for those that just need encouragement. This site sends you alerts of what you need to do, through any means, Receive reminders via email, SMS, and instant messenger (AIM, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN, Skype and Yahoo! are all supported) and iphone (app available) the site itself. and one cool feature is it uses google maps to find the location of your task, you create task lists with any topic and stuff. try it! it’s free as well (one of my favorite words!)
Now i leave you this Friday the 13th with an image of what we are doing to our planet. Taking homes away from those who can’t do anything about it. This is an image from an ad by WWF (World Wide Foundation)
