Rent Books Online

Published by psynopsis at 5:43 pm under Techological Ideas, Websites Edit This

We all know Netflix is a great way to rent movies you can choose from all new releases and you get them delivered to your door. No more having to drive all the way to Blockbuster or some other video rental store. Now the same concept is being done with books. Bookswim.com is a website where you can rent books, all the way from new releases to older literature.

Bookswim is styled after Netflix, you pay a monthly membership fee and you get unlimited amounts of books. Right now, they are having a 50% off your membership for the first month. All books sent to you from your book queue are shipped free to and from. You can even rent college textbooks which will save you at least 60% in one semester.

I really like this system because I can’t always got to the library. I have at least a $10 dollar fine at my library due to late returns. So, I signed up on Bookswim, because they have no late fees and it’s easier to find a book I will read online. Have you ever tried searching for a book at a large library, using the system they have? Last time, I spent 30 minutes going around a bookshelf trying to go through the alphabet. Another, cool thing about Bookswim is that they plant a tree in honor of your gift. Your tree helps balance out new book paper production through a partnership with Eco-Libris.

Excerpt from Bookswim’s goals on helping the environment

Everyone is concerned about our planet’s dwindling resources, and the easiest first step we can all take is conservation.
Twenty million trees are cut down every year for American book production. BookSwim encourages book rental, rather than purchasing new books, in part because it helps reduce that staggering figure.
Additionally, the bags BookSwim uses to ship books to and from our subscribers are made from 100% recycled plastic.
Finally, by receiving books by mail, rather than constantly driving to and from the bookstore or library, BookSwim helps Americans save quite literally millions of gallons of gas every year.
BookSwim knows that it’s both good business and good conscience to take care of the Earth, so we go a step further - for every gift card we sell, we plant a tree through a partnership with EcoLibris.net
