Google has reached a trillion page index, since of last year and you can already imagine how many more it has amassed as of now. Why are web surfers so attracted to Google? Why can’t we use other search engines when we need a speedy answer or search? I don’t know but have been conducting research on this matter.

Well, if you didn’t know there are other search out there! I am just saying this because i thought Google was the only search engine in existence! true story. If you are not satisfied with the search giant why not try another? True there are a few that suck, it’s mainly due to the fact that they can’t compete with Google, or are just starting. I have noticed the name of the site is also a huge factor on determining if the engine or site will proper. Here are some engines you may want to try-

1.Mahalo.com- This site is very refreshing well compared to Google but quite similar to Yahoo. I like that they have Blog posts you can view easily. They review websites and provide more places to search for what you want.

2.Pipl.com- This search engine is made to find people. You type in their name and get better results than Google. It’s great i wasted a few hours searching for a friend on Google and when i used this site i found him in the first search, it was the first result.

3.Snooth.com- I don’t know if this should be classified as a search engine, it more of a fine wine site, full of things on wine like where to buy wine, taste wine, love wine… Yet it has a notable database.

4.Seamlessweb.com- I don;’t like this search engine very much as it requires you to sign up. The info is used to improve the engine but it’s annoying. Although, it’s based on food, like snooth.com it specializes in a certain subject but still good.

5. Dogpile.com- I like this site in the future it might compete with Google. I have to say it does need a bigger database but it’s working on it. It’s very professional, if you have not realize already it’s mascot is Arffie a white spotted Dog.
